Rapid specialist investigation of bleeding after menopause
Any bleeding after menopause deserves to be checked properly, and quickly — we know that waiting for answers, especially with a symptom like this, can be frightening. You shouldn’t have to wait weeks for a first appointment, let alone a diagnosis.
Our One-Stop Postmenopausal Bleeding Clinic is built to give you answers as efficiently as possible, combining specialist assessment and, where appropriate, same-visit investigation, so you’re not left waiting between appointments for news that matters this much.
Most postmenopausal bleeding turns out to have a treatable, non-cancerous cause, but it always needs to be checked, and checked promptly.
Where clinically appropriate, your visit can include specialist gynaecological assessment, advanced transvaginal ultrasonography, saline infusion sonography, outpatient hysteroscopy, endometrial assessment and sampling, and WID-easy molecular testing, combined wherever possible into the same visit, so the cause is identified efficiently and you’re not sent away for a separate appointment for each step.
The aim is always to explain what’s found in terms you understand, and to move quickly to treatment or reassurance, whichever is appropriate. If a treatable cause such as polyps or endometrial changes is found, we’ll talk through your options straight away, rather than booking a separate appointment just to discuss results.
No — most cases turn out to have a benign, treatable cause, such as vaginal dryness or polyps. But it should always be investigated promptly, because it occasionally can be a sign of something that needs early treatment.w
We treat this as a priority and aim to see you as quickly as possible — get in touch and we’ll find the earliest appointment we can.
It’s an ultrasound technique using a small amount of saline to improve the view inside the uterus, helping to spot polyps or other changes that a standard scan might miss.
Not always — this depends on what your ultrasound shows. When it is needed, we offer this as an outpatient procedure wherever possible.
We’ll explain what it means and talk through treatment options straight away, so you’re not left waiting for a further appointment just to hear the results.
