Fertility

Starting a family and parenthood is a sacred right to every individual, a principle we deeply believe in at LUNA and strive to deliver consistently to our patients.

We believe in adopting a natural and minimally invasive approach to help our patients to start their family life. As such, we prioritise working collaboratively with our patients to understand their priorities, their desired outcomes, and specific health needs to help them get pregnant.

Challenging the ‘Conveyor Belt’ IVF Approach
Over-reliance on assisted conception exposed many patients to the ‘’conveyor belt’’ method of IVF with fragmented and suboptimal care. At LUNA we strongly oppose this approach and endeavour to deliver consistent, individualised, evidence-based fertility care.
We focus on delivering high specialised fertility services including:

Failed IVF

If you have experienced a failed IVF cycle, it is crucial to seek guidance from an experience and impartial fertility specialist who can help you explore potential causes and solutions to help you succeed in future attempts.

Failed IVF cycles can be a deeply distressing and emotional experience for individuals and couples. When an IVF cycle fails to result in a successful pregnancy, it is important to understand the potential causes and explore options for moving forward.
IVF is a complex process, and its success depends on multiple factors working together correctly. Some of the most common reasons for IVF failure include poor ovarian reserve (the quantity and quality of a woman’s eggs), abnormal embryos (due to genetic or chromosomal issues), endometrial issues (problems with the uterine lining), and problems with the embryo transfer process. Lifestyle factors, such as smoking, excessive alcohol use, stress, and obesity, can also negatively impact the success of an IVF cycle. Additionally, a woman’s age is a significant factor, as egg quality and quantity decrease with age.

Donor eggs and sperm – Tambre photo

Donor egg or sperm IVF is a fertility treatment option that can help individuals or couples who are unable to conceive using their own eggs. This procedure involves using eggs or sperm donated by a young, healthy donor, which are then used to create embryos with the intended parent(s) gametes (eggs or sperm) and implanted into the uterus of the recipient.

We are proud to collaborate with the Clinica-Tambre in Madrid Spain to offer a holistic and patient friendly A to Z pathway to donor egg IVF. Clinica Tambre has one of the biggest egg banks in Europe and offers advanced donor-recipient matching technology to ensure you find the right donor for you.

Recurrent miscarriage

Recurrent miscarriage, also known as recurrent pregnancy loss, is a condition where a woman experiences two or more consecutive miscarriages. Understanding why these losses occur and how to manage them can be crucial for those looking to successfully carry a pregnancy to term.
The diagnosis of recurrent miscarriage typically involves a careful review of the individual’s medical history, as well as a series of tests to check for common issues that could contribute to the miscarriages. These may include genetic tests, assessments of hormone levels, and imaging tests like ultrasounds to examine the structure of the uterus and other reproductive organs.
When it comes to management, the approach greatly depends on the underlying causes. For example, if a woman is found to have a hormonal imbalance, medication may be prescribed to stabilize hormone levels. If there is a genetic issue, a specialist can offer guidance and discuss potential options such as IVF with genetic screening of embryos. In cases where the structure of the uterus is a factor (like a fibroid or uterine septum), surgery could be an option.

We believe in adopting a natural and minimally invasive approach to help our patients to start their family life. As such, we prioritise working collaboratively with our patients to understand their priorities, their desired outcomes, and specific health needs to help them get pregnant.

Our LUNA doctors will help you understand your fertility treatment options, conduct baseline blood tests and ultrasound scans in London, and coordinate care with the Spanish team to ensure seamless journey to parenthood. Additionally, we offer tailored care post embryo transfer supporting your health needs in the early pregnancy phase all the way until delivery.

Despite the emotional challenges that come with recurrent miscarriage, there are steps that can be taken to increase the chances of a healthy pregnancy. From lifestyle adjustments like reducing stress and maintaining a healthy weight to medical interventions tailored to the specific issue at hand, many women go on to have successful pregnancies after facing recurrent losses.
