One-Stop Hysteroscopy & Advanced Ultrasonography Clinic

Outpatient hysteroscopy and advanced ultrasonography, combined into as few visits as possible

Suspected polyps, an unclear ultrasound finding, or bleeding that needs a closer look inside the uterus — these all deserve a proper answer without a long wait for a hospital admission you probably don’t need. Most of this can be done comfortably, and quickly, as an outpatient, combining advanced ultrasonography with hysteroscopy where needed.

Our One-Stop Hysteroscopy & Advanced Ultrasonography Clinic combines specialist and saline infusion ultrasonography with outpatient hysteroscopy wherever appropriate, so the cause of your symptoms is identified as efficiently as possible, usually without a general anaesthetic.

This may be for you if:

Outpatient hysteroscopy is usually well tolerated, and most women are back to normal activities the same day.

Your assessment

We typically begin with specialist, advanced ultrasonography — including saline infusion sonography where a closer look inside the uterus is needed — which can improve visualisation of polyps, fibroids and other abnormalities beyond what standard ultrasound alone can show. Where direct visualisation is still needed, outpatient hysteroscopy uses a thin camera to examine the uterine cavity directly, usually without a general anaesthetic, and any polyps found can often be removed at the same time.

If something is found

If we find and remove a polyp or take a sample during your hysteroscopy, we’ll explain what that means for you straight away, wherever possible, rather than leaving you waiting for a separate results appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is outpatient hysteroscopy painful?

Most women describe it as similar to period cramps, and it’s usually well tolerated without a general anaesthetic. We talk through pain relief options with you beforehand.

It’s an advanced ultrasound technique using a small amount of saline to improve the view inside the uterus, helping to spot polyps or other changes that a standard scan might miss.

Often, yes — many polyps can be removed during outpatient hysteroscopy at the same visit they’re identified, avoiding a separate procedure.

The procedure itself is usually brief, often around 10 to 15 minutes, though your full appointment allows time for discussion beforehand and afterwards.

Most women return to normal activities the same day, though some mild cramping or spotting afterwards is common and generally settles quickly.
